AISV Congratulates Former President Chethicad Oommen Thomas OAM

The Australia India Society of Victoria (AISV) proudly congratulates our former President and long-serving Executive Committee member, Mr. Chethicad Oommen Thomas OAM, on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours List for his outstanding service to the Indian community of Victoria.


This prestigious national honour recognises more than five decades of dedicated community leadership, volunteerism, and unwavering commitment to supporting multiculturalism and strengthening the Indian-Australian community.


Mr. Thomas has played a significant role in the history of AISV. During his time with the Society, including his tenure as President, he helped strengthen AISV's role as one of Victoria's leading community organisations, fostering stronger relationships between Australia and India while supporting newly arrived migrants and advocating for the interests of the Indian community.

Through AISV, he worked tirelessly to ensure that the voices of the Indian community were heard and that opportunities for future generations continued to grow.
