This evening, under the leadership of our AISV team Ms Anou Mcpherson (President), Mr Manjit Ginny Singh (Vice President), Ms Ruchi Sharma (Secretary) and Karan Gandhok (Committee Member)
we came together to joyously celebrate the 78th year of Indian Independence with a memorable event, graciously hosted by Hon. Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar Ji.
The night emphasized the lasting friendship and strong connections between Victoria's Indian community and the state government.
Our dynamic and flourishing diaspora continues to accomplish extraordinary feats, and tonight's event showcased these remarkable achievements, as highlighted by the Consul General of India 🇮🇳.
The gathering saw representation from both sides of the state government. Hon. Ben Carroll MP, Deputy Premier of Victoria, stood in for Premier Jacinta Allan, extending her warm wishes.
The Hon. John Pesutto, Leader of the Opposition, delivered a heartfelt and motivating speech, celebrating the contributions of our community and the ties that unite us.
In a powerful show of solidarity, the Victorian Government lit up Melbourne's CBD landmarks in the vibrant hues of the Indian tricolour, symbolizing the deep connection between our two nations.
We were privileged to be joined by:
• Steve McGhie MP
• John Mullahy MP
• Mayor of Monash, Nicky Luo
• Mayor of Dandenong, Lana Formoso
• Victorian Multicultural Commission Chair, Vivienne Nguyen, and Victorian Multicultural Commission Deputy Chair, Bwe Thay, along with other senior parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and community leaders.
